The Swamp Angels were a New York City waterfront street gang active from the 1850s to the 1890s. Based in Gotham Court on Cherry Street in Lower Manhattan, they used the sewers to raid East River dockyards and sell stolen cargo quickly. Their activities led to police sniper patrols and underground battles. The gang eventually merged with other waterfront gangs into the White Hand Gang.
