Mexican drug cartel founded in 1987 by Miguel Caro Quintero and Rafael Caro Quintero, operating out of northern Mexico and smuggling drugs into the United States. It was considered one of the oldest and best-established cartels by the DEA, with direct links to Colombian cartels. The cartel was acquired by the Sinaloa Cartel by 2007 and reported defunct by 2010.
