A prominent street gang in New York's Fourth Ward active from the late 1880s to the mid-1990s. Known for violent muggings and murder, they lured victims into bars or used a woman to dump ash to blind them before robbing them. The gang was led by George Leese, a river pirate and mugger, and remained dominant until after the American Civil War when police drove them out.
