The Shirt Tails were a mid-19th-century street gang based in the Five Points slum in Manhattan, New York City. They wore their shirts outside their pants as a form of insignia and concealed weapons beneath. Active from the 1830s to the 1860s, they participated in the New York Draft Riots as part of a coalition under the Dead Rabbits. The gang disappeared shortly before the American Civil War.
