Sudanese paramilitary force originating from the Janjaweed militias used in the Darfur conflict. Formally established in August 2013 under Muhammad Dagalo (Hemedti). It fought alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces until 2023, then turned against them in a civil war. The RSF has been accused of war crimes, genocide, and human rights abuses, and has established a parallel government in 2025.
