Colombian left-wing guerrilla group founded in 1967 based on Marxist-Leninist ideology. Originally the armed wing of the Communist Party of Colombia (Marxist-Leninist), it was the third-largest guerrilla group in Colombia before most members demobilized in 1991. A dissident faction remains active in the Catatumbo region and the Colombia-Venezuela border, with around 400 members, and is classified as an organized armed group by the Colombian government.
