The Ñetas are a prison gang founded in 1979 at Oso Blanco prison in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, by Carlos Torres Iriarte. Originally formed for mutual protection and to improve prison conditions, they later engaged in drug trafficking, robbery, and extortion. The gang operates in Puerto Rico, the United States, Spain, and Ecuador, with an estimated 12,000 members. Despite the death of their founder, they remain active and are known for their white color identification.
