The Mexican Mafia, also known as La eMe, is a powerful criminal organization based in the United States, primarily composed of individuals of Mexican origin. It was founded on November 15, 1957, by Luis "Huero Buff" Flores and 13 other Chicano gang members at the Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy, California. The organization is one of the oldest and most powerful prison gangs in the U.S., controlling illegal activities within the prison system and on the streets. It operates mainly in California and other states, engaging in drug trafficking, extortion, and murder.
