The Jheri Curls were a Dominican gang active in Washington Heights, Manhattan in the early 1990s. Led by Rafael Martinez and his brothers, they ran a major cocaine trafficking operation based out of an apartment complex. Known for extreme violence, they murdered a resident who cooperated with police. The gang was dismantled in 1991 after arrests and convictions.
