Mexican criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking and arms smuggling, designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. and Argentina. Founded in 2007 as an armed wing called Los Mata Zetas, it became independent in 2010 and emerged publicly in 2011. Led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes ("El Mencho") from 2009 until his death in 2026, it is considered one of Mexico's most dangerous cartels and a rival of the Sinaloa Cartel.
