The Hoxton Gang was an independent street gang based in Soho, London, during the interwar years. They fought against Charles 'Darby' Sabini and the 'Italian Mob' for control of gambling clubs and racetracks. In June 1936, around 30 gang members attacked a bookmaker at Lewes racetrack, leading to convictions and over 43 years of sentences. The gang's leader was Jimmy Spinks, great uncle of Lenny McLean.
