The Hook Gang was a street gang and river pirates active in New York City's Fourth Ward and Corlear's Hook districts from the mid-1860s until 1876. Formed after the American Civil War, the gang numbered 50-100 members and engaged in armed robbery, theft, hijacking, and river piracy. They were broken up by the New York City Police Department in 1876.
