The Cornbread Mafia was a group of Kentucky men who created the largest domestic marijuana production operation in U.S. history, based in central Kentucky. Founded in the late 1970s by Joe Keith Bickett and others, the group operated across 30 farms in 10 states. The term was first used publicly by federal prosecutors in 1989, and the group was dismantled in the late 1980s with 70 members arrested.
