It emerged after a betrayal by Juan Manuel Valdovinos Mendoza and was founded by Baldemar Calderón Carrillo. The cartel is involved in drug trafficking across the Guatemala-Mexico border and has published execution videos. It is allied with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and rivals the Sinaloa Cartel.
