Jewish-American street gang based in Manhattan's Lower East Side, formed in the 1920s by Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky. Active during Prohibition, the gang engaged in bootlegging, truck hijacking, murder, and illegal gambling. It served as a predecessor to Murder, Inc. and worked closely with Charles Luciano and Frank Costello.
