American street gang active in New York City during the mid-to-late 19th century. Known as 'butcher cart thieves' who hijacked food provision wagons in the 1850s. Later expanded to robbing messengers and couriers in the financial district. The gang declined in the 1890s due to gang wars and was defunct by the turn of the century.
