The Almighty Vice Lord Nation is the second-largest street and prison gang in Chicago, founded in 1957 by African American youths at the Illinois State Training School for Boys. It is a founding member of the People Nation alliance and engages in drug sales, robbery, extortion, and murder. The gang attempted to soften its image in the 1960s as Conservative Vice Lords Inc., but continued criminal activities. It remains active with an estimated 30,000-35,000 members across 28 states.
